LUCKNOW: Injured penalty corner expert Jugraj Singh will be sent abroad for physiotherapy and rehabilitation as early as a proper doctor is identified.
This is the first time an official from the Indian Hockey Federation has said anything about Jugraj Singh.
Talking to Times News Network from Jalandhar after meeting the player in the hospital and the treating doctors, Indian Hockey Federation Secretary General K Jothi Kumaran said an expert opinion was being sought.

"As soon as we are able to identify the right person and right place for Jugraj (Singh), we will request the sports ministry to make the arrangements to send him for the treatment," commented Kumaran.
He and IHF Senior Vice-President N K Batra had gone to see Jugraj at the Dayanand Medical College in Jalandhar on Thursday. The two also met Dr J L Bassi, the head of orthopaedic department who had done the operation.
The ace penalty corner shooter suffered multiple fractures in right elbow and right thigh on September 2 night when his car crashed into an electric pole. His pelvic bone also got injured. The player was returning home after having dinner in a roadside restaurant along with his friends and the mishap occurred as he tried to save an auto-rickshaw around a bend.

Kumaran was amazed by high spirits of Jugraj even at this moment of concern. "He looked cheerful and was eager to return to the field," praised Kumaran. "Besides I assured him that the IHF would do its utmost to bring him back to the game.
"Jugraj is a national asset and no effort would be spared in getting him the best facilities. The whole country is praying for his recovery. I don''t foresee any reasons why the best doctors or physiotherapists can''t be made available to him," said Kumaran.
Later Kumaran had a detailed discussion with the doctors that are treating him. "Even the doctors are also surprised by his mental toughness. They say that his strong mental frame would help him immensely in the recovery," added the IHF secretary general.
A CD has been prepared, detailing his injury, operation and the treatment Jugraj Singh has been given at DMC, Kumaran elaborated. "The copies of the CD are being sent to various doctors in order to seek their expert opinion. Just as we get the views from right doctors, we will formally approach the sports ministry to send Jugraj for his rehabilitation programme.
"One copy is already with the IHF president (K P S Gill). The president is in the US and is in touch with experts there. So you can see everybody is concerned about him.
"The doctors also want all the arrangements done as fast as possible. They (the doctors) are in favour of shifting him as proper physiotherapy would not only be very effective and useful for him, but also help him recover fast," said Kumaran about the views of the DMC doctors.
